The Story Behind…
DeLuca's Market

Two days before the Boston Marathon, cars and delivery trucks double parked, horns honking, people scurrying to make their next stop on this busy Boston street and there stands DeLuca’s in the same location for over 100 years.

As we walked down the street our eye was caught by the flowers arranged in the midst of fresh fruits and vegetables at the street-side stand.  What a sight to behold and what a site to capture.  So we setup the tripod on the street between the double parked delivery trucks to capture on film such a beautiful sight.  With a 4x5 large format camera, Babe stood with the focusing cloth over his head at the wonderment of those around him.

History has it that Joe DeLuca , born in Italy, worked in the store which later in 1919 bore his name.  It was known as “the place” in Boston for the finest in produce.  Today Mr. DeLuca’s nephew still operates the store.  In the mood for gourmet bread, cheeses, Italian meats, fruits and vegetables, beer or wine?  This is “the place”!

Bring DeLucas’s Market into your home, perhaps in the kitchen or dining area and tell the story to those that dine with you.
